On May 11, in the City Hall “sala Consiglio Teodoro Bubbio” (Municipality of Alba), the Mayor Maurizio Marello and the Head of Culture & Tourism of Alba Fabio Tripaldi met the vice-Mayor of Tsuruoka Masuo Yamamoto, along with Tsuyoshi Hayasaka, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Atsushi Ito, Director of the UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy promotion office in Tsuruoka, and 11 representatives of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
The visit to Alba took place before attending at the event "Japan-Italy Local branding: Forum on geographical indications for local industrial developments through gastronomic cultures" organized by Tsuruoka Municipality together with Alba-Bra-Langhe-Roero Tourism Authority, Genuine Education Network Srl, in collaboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences and Slow Food of Pollenzo, at Fontanafredda (Serralunga d'Alba).
During the meeting in the City Hall, Fabio Tripaldi (Head of Culture&Toursim) explained to the Japanese delegation the importance for Alba, the “Langhe Capital”, of obtaining the recognition of UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy this year: this would be an opportunity to establish exchanges between Alba and the UNESCO Cretive Cities Network, starting from Tsuruoka.
During the visit, the Japanese guests signed an endorsement for “UNESCO Alba City of Gastronomy”
